Relief House Parents
The Relief House Parent Program is critical at MSR. The objective is to allow the house parent families to spend one free weekend together each month, while Relief House Parents care for MSR children in their homes. This time provides rest and refreshment to offset the ongoing demands of the full-time house parent families. The program is also designed to allow the children to spend time with other families providing love and security through consistency. The goal is for one family in the community to “adopt” each child. This broadens the children’s infrastructure of support and creates another way to form meaningful relationships.
The Relief House Parent’s application process is the same as full-time house parents. Click here to download an application.
Education
Upon arrival to MSR, each child undergoes an academic assessment performed by a trained educational professional. MSR children may be several grade levels behind other children their age, so we utilize both the public school system and a home school approach. An on-site, educational director coordinates and implements the curriculum according to each child’s specific needs and abilities, allowing children to progress at his or her best pace. Education volunteers and university students are also utilized as the need for individualized instruction arises.
For $450 a year, you can cover the educational expenses of one child at MSR. For more information, contact the office at 931-525-7333 or you can give today by clicking here. “I want to sponsor a child’s education at MSR."
